Today (September 3, 2019), František Ružička, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic took part in the 29th Economic Forum in Krynica, Poland. He delivered his remarks in a panel discussion on the development of the EU and the Visegrad 4 cooperation after the European Parliamentary elections.

The EU has reached a threshold of the new institutional cycle -- in addition to personal exchanges it will be important that during this period the future political direction and focus of the EU will be responsibly defined. “We wish for an EU that will be united, prosperous and safe, an EU as a leader in scientific and technical progress and having a central role as a world political player in harmony with its economic power. The EU should be, at the same time, a role model regarding the pursuit of the values of freedom, democracy, and human rights; it should be open to international cooperation and international partnerships,” emphasized State Secretary Ružička.

State Secretary Ružička also took part in a debate held at the College of Commerce in the City of Nowy Sącz where the Economic Forum of Young Leaders took place. In the presence of students and young professionals, he discussed the prospects of the region of Central and Eastern Europe, the position of the Visegrad Group in the EU, and the opportunities of the future European project. State Secretary Ružička stated that “we need to see the current challenges concerning climate change, digitization and enlargement as opportunities which must be utilised for the benefit and development of our region and the whole of the EU.”
